Top alternatives to Chinese Apps – especially the banned ones

July 15, 2020 by TCM Leave a Comment

App Tired of looking for non-Chinese alternatives to banned apps?

Don’t worry we have you covered.

The Ministry of IT has banned 59 Chinese apps owing to the non-conformance of user privacy clause which most of the Chinese software and apps never do. (Check out the video in this article for more details)

Today we will cover a few of the better alternatives to few widely used Chinese apps.

This will cover most of the regularly used apps along with the entertainment ones (TikTok). A word of caution, all apps are android and there IOS alternate needs to be confirmed.

Here goes the list:

Chingari App
         Chingari App

1.Tiktok

Though Youtube and Instagram are trying to bring in new features to cover up for a platform like TikTok. We are pretty sure these two giants will do a much better job with that. At the moment with 1 million+ downloads, Chingari can be considered as an Indian alternative to the app. Here we won’t endorse Mitron app over here due to its controversial origin and recent ban by google owing to its missing privacy policy. Though this app has over 10 Million+ downloads now.

You can download chingari here.

Adobe Scan App
               Adobe Scan

2.CamScanner

Yes, we agree the app was apt. & quite handy when it came to quickly take a scan & sending the pdf across. Owing to its popularity, we almost failed to see that there is a much better app developed by one of the most popular developers Adobe. With over 10 million+ downloads, this app is the best app when it comes to our documents scan or pdf conversion of the same and that too with a trusted brand.

You can download this app here.

Files by Google
          Files by Google

3.Shareit, Xender and ES File Explorer

Wondering why all these handy sharing apps and file managers together?

We have an all in one better alternative by android developer google itself named as File by Google. The app has ….wait for it……… more than 500 million+ downloads. This shows the app is already widely popular throughout the world and we were busy using these mere apps.

You can download this app here.

Telegram
            Telegram

4. WeChat

Though the app was initially popular for its stickers but later was given a tough competition by Facebook-owned Watsapp with its upgraded features. Since WhatsApp is a very commonly used app today, we won’t discuss it either. We have another little lesser-used alternative but much better when it comes to features, even better than WhatsApp,  its Telegram. The app has many cloud-based features as well and is a unique experience in itself once you get used to its all features. Download it here.

Myntra
                  Myntra

5. Shein

Yes,  a big blow to most of the women was going down of their favorite fashion app Shein. However, when it comes to fashion and clothing, there are umpteen options out there. To name a one we would suggest Myntra for clothing and accessories for every occasion. A subsidiary of Flipkart, the app has more than 100 million downloads already.

So what are you waiting for download the app now!

Apps and Softwares are just a beginning for us Indians to try and get out of the grip. Wallet power is the way forward and we at TCM are sure that together we can do it and we will be self-reliant again.

India V/S China – How 2020 is not same as 1962?

July 11, 2020 by TCM Leave a Comment

Ladakh - china border

India v/s China: Considering exaggerated claims by China on the Galwan valley, India on July 9th,  said the earliest complete disengagement of the troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) was the need of the hour. The stand taken by India, not to have any dialogues until disengagement of Chinese troops from LAC seems to have worked pretty well.

The disengagement news has been confirmed by the Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong (Source) who also appealed that China and India should have strategic discussions to enhance mutual trust and shun friction.

Today we will discuss, our readiness at the border based on Harvard Kennedy’s Belfer Center research (source) comparing both the countries’ strategic assets. However, war is the last thing we would expect, this article is just to discuss our readiness in such a situation.

The Indian Military has an edge over Chinese in the high-altitude region

We need to understand that in this case, the major role players during the war will be ground troops, Air force & Nuclear power. Let’s have a look at the individual comparative study:

Ground Forces Comparision (India v/s China)

We not only have a higher number of troops but also tank brigades to support them.

Air Forces Comparision(China v/s India)

Due to more distance of Chinese airstrip from LAC, their fighter jets might not have enough endurance. They might need a higher number of refueling to sustain the battle.

Nuclear Forces Comparision (India v/s China)

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), China has approximately 320 nuclear warheads while India has only 150. However, both nations have a “no first use” policy, i.e they have pledged only to use nuclear arms in defense of a nuclear attack.

Even in that case, both nations have almost full coverage of each other.

So, when it comes to the military we have a better edge, apart from that many other countries like the U.S, Israel to name a few will be in our support post CoronaVirus pandemic (also read Are young people safe from COVID-19?).

What can be our role amid such tensions at the border?

We have already discussed the following in our video below:
  • China’s unfair trade practices, owing to which they can supply goods at the cheapest prices throughout the world.
  • How they have been using Debt Diplomacy to capture some of the strategic locations in different parts of the world.
Check this out & our role to support the current situation in the video below:
